As a former Major League Gaming (MLG) competitor, tournament organizer, producer, director, and now commentator and VP of programming, I’ve been part of every aspect of the eSports industry. The most common questions I get are from aspiring players who want to know how to get started and perfect their game. Here are some of the most popular questions and answers:

How do I get started? Practice and compete. MLG Play isn’t just for the pros, it’s for amateurs too. The site features more than 40 titles with brackets and ladders for you to get started.

How do I find a team? When creating a new squad for games like Call of Duty, Dota 2, and League of Legends, find one player of similar skill in a Free For All or Solo Que match and start practicing together. Once you’ve found your “duo,” join another doubles team to form a four-man squad. For LoL and Dota, you can then add a fifth player to fill the role your team needs most.

How do I play smarter? If you’re not winning, chances are you’re making the same mistakes over and over. Use your time wisely and take a few hours each week to study the pros. You can watch live Call of Duty and Dota 2 matches with commentary and analysis weekly at and starting October 14, we’ll showcase player streams regularly. You can watch VOD of top players and competition at or visit to watch individual streamers. Call of Duty fans can go to OpticGaming.TV for even more action.

Should I attend an event? I encourage everyone to attend events like our upcoming Fall Invitational and Pro Circuit Championship. The energy is unparalleled and gameplay is inspiring.

I’ll be here for the next hour to answer your questions live!
